Rescue and Release of Chinese Pangolin into Taudolchhap Community Forest

A rescued Chinese Pangolin has been safely released into the Taudolchhap Community Forest, Bhaktapur on 6 July 2018 in presence of team from SMCRF, Taudolchhap Community Forest Users Group (TCFUG), Suryabinayak Municipality, District Forest Office, students and local people. This is the 10th successful release of pangolins in the area. SMCRF has been jointly involved in the rescue and release of pangolins in the area since 2008. SMCRF also celebrated the seventh World Pangolin Day this year at Suryabinayak jointly with TCFUG in collaboration with Ministry of Forests and Soil Conservation (MoFSC) and Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation (DNPWC) with support from USAID funded Hariyo Ban Program, National Trust for Nature Conservation (NTNC), Taronga Conservation Society Australia, and Zoological Society of London (ZSL)- Nepal.

SMCRF has also been conducting habitat survey, camera trap and post monitoring in the area with the involvement of TCFUG, other adjacent CFUGs and local people as the citizen scientists. We sincerely thank everyone for your continuous support in this journey.
